With the recent outbreaks of highly lethal communicable diseases such as SARS and H1N1, the prevention of such diseases in the Asian region has become one of the top issues for not only the global healthcare but also for the global economy. Communicable diseases are a huge risk factor for economic growth of Asian countries; once a major outbreak occurs in Asia, not only vast loss of lives but also a huge damage to the corporate world and to the economy will be done.
The recent string of outbreaks of diseases such as H1N1 has revealed the fact that there is a critical lack of collaboration in the area of disease prevention.
Under such circumstance, the importance for Japan to play a leading role in fighting against the threat of communicable diseases is ever demanding.
Asian Conference: Renewal of Our Commitment to Fight against Communicable Diseases will gather in one place the pharmaceutical manufacturers, the government officials, academics, public health organizations and all those who relates to the prevention of communicable disease. Its aims will be to function as a base infrastructure of the new and effective network among the stakeholders, and to build social awareness of the importance of immunization. The conference will also provide framework for the proposals of effective measures to the government policy in the area of disease prevention throughout Asia.
